Owner Mars Mobile Homes HEPHZIBAH, Ga. - Entered into rest on Monday, January 16, 2006 at his residence, Mr. Charlie Franklin Powell, 85, husband of Annie Mae Powell, his wife of 64 years. Mr. Powell was a native and lifelong resident of the Augusta area. He was a US Army Veteran of WWII where he served as a military police officer. He started out his career as a builder, and then moved to mobile home rentals where he rented and repaired both the mobile homes and the properties. He loved to fish and was a Baptist. Family members in addition to his wife include his son, Gerald W. Powell of Augusta; daughter, Sandra Brown of Hephzibah; grandchildren, Brian Powell, Susan Mattison, Jonathan Judson, Christine McDonnell, Wyman Brown; sisters, Lillian Sharp of Martinez, Myrtle Reynolds of Grovetown; brother, Carlford Powell of Arizona; step grandchildren, Kim Maloy, Leanne Stanley, Scott Arrington, Richard Poteet and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held, today, Friday, January 20, 2006 at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Grover Lee officiating. Pallbearers will be Troy Milam, Brian Powell, Bobby Maddox, Richard Irby, A.J. Landrum, Chris McLaughlin and Jeff Conzett. Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park.
