WATTS, Charles William Charles William Watts passed away peacefully at the Rockyview Hospital in Calgary on February 13, 2009 in his ninety second year. Charlie was born July 8, 1917, in Medicine Hat, Alberta, where he was educated, began his career in the grocery business, and married Enid. He enlisted in the forces and served with the Canadian Scottish in England and Europe during the Second World War. On his return he resumed his career, and with Enid raised their family, moving from Medicine Hat to Lethbridge, Fernie and finally to Calgary where he retired in 1982. He maintained close contact with his many friends and associates, attending many of the weekly and annual get-togethers through his retirement. He traveled twice to England and Europe, revisiting some of the people and places of his war years, and at home attended the Canadian Scottish reunions. After Enid's passing, he moved to the Manor Village (Signature Park) where he spent six very happy years in the company of new friends. Charlie was predeceased by his loving wife Enid and his brother Wilfred. He is survived by his brother Fred of Whitehorse, Yukon, and his sons Ron (Pat) of Gabriola, B.C., and Brian (Lee) of Calgary, as well as grandchildren Jesse and Janna, also of Calgary. Charlie will be fondly remembered for his gentle, easy manner and ready smile by all who knew him.
