EXETER ; Charles E. Sanborn, 83, of Exeter, died Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at his home.He was born May 26, 1924 in Seabrook, N.H., a son of the late Guy M. and Mabel L. (Knowles) Sanborn.Mr. Sanborn was raised in Seabrook and lived most of his life there, he resided in Exeter for the past 16 years. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. He worked for several area shoe factories including, Welpro, Wise and Kristine's Shoe companies.He enjoyed repairing radios, playing the guitar, collecting coins and tinkering in his shop. He enjoyed watching television, Wheel of Fortune, Nick at Night and the Price is Right.Family members include his wife of 57 years, Mary A. (Ellery) of Exeter; three daughters, Cheryl E. McDevitt and Karen L. Rowell, both of Exeter, Betsy L. Messina of Berwick, Maine; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; also survived by several nieces and nephews.Mr. Sanborn was predeceased by a daughter, Patricia M. Jones; a brother, James W. Sanborn and a sister, Elizabeth Yell.Services will be held at the United Methodist Church, Route 27, Exeter, Friday at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may visit with the family, Friday at the church from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service. Burial will be private.
