Charles R. Humphrey, 81, Venice, died July 30, 2002. He was born Aug. 4, 1920, in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and came to Venice in 1985 from Fairfield, Conn. He was a salesman for R.R. Donnelley & Sons and after retiring ran his own printing company in Connecticut. He graduated from Trinity College and Harvard Business School and served in the Marine Corps during World War II, earning the rank of captain. He was a member of the Cedarpoint Yacht Club in Westport, Conn., and the Venice Yacht Club. He was an Episcopalian. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Elizabeth; daughters Elizabeth Howell of San Diego and Susan Firmin and Abigail, both of Denver; a son, Charles of Dallas; sisters Elizabeth Denholm of Alexandria, Va., and Eleanor Triller of Poughkeepsie; and two grandchildren. A memorial service will be later. National Cremation Society, Venice chapter, is in charge. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1230 S. Tuttle Ave., Sarasota, FL 34239.
