ObituaryCHARLES R. CASEYCharles R. Casey entered peacefully into his Lord's presence on May 6, 2003. Charles was born to Daniel and Lillian Casey on December 14, 1921, at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD.He was predeceased by both parents and his brother, Daniel Leverton Casey.After graduating from Baltimore City College, Charles attended Johns Hopkins University briefly before enlisting in the United States Navy in 1942. He was always proud to have served his country (1942 to 1946) during WWII. He was a member of VFW Post 961 in Ithaca, NY. Charles continued to work for the federal government as an analyst at the National Security Agency until 1972. He was later employed by Levenson & Klein Home Furnishings in Baltimore until his retirement in 1982.He faithfully served his Lord Jesus as a member of Bishop Cummins Reformed Episcopal Church in Catonsville, MD from 1967 to 1987. Since 1987, Charles resided in Ithaca, NY where he served the Lord as a member of Bethel Grove Bible Church.In 1955, Charles married Ruth Schanze of Ithaca, NY, to whom he was faithfully devoted until parted by death. He was the devoted father of James (Deborah) Casey of Ithaca, NY, and Gloria (Timothy) Beam of Holland, MI. He had a special relationship with his four loving granddaughters, Elisabeth and Christy Beam, and Elena and Melinda Casey. Also surviving are his sisters-in-law, Lola Casey, Gloria (Fay) Griffin; and brother-in-law, Bill (Alice Ann) Schanze, with whom he had a special bond. In addition he will be remembered by many cousins, nieces, nephews and countless friends.The family wishes to express deep appreciation for the skilled and compassionate care he received on the fourth floor at Cayuga Medical Center. We love you all!Charles, better know as Chuck, was one of a kind. HE LIVED LIFE SIMPLY WITH A STRONG SENSE OF WHAT MATTERED: RELATIONSHIPS with God, family, friends and people of all stations in life. Chuck loved people and treated everyone with respect. His sound effects and affectionate nicknames will long be remembered, as well as his songs for every occasion.There will be calling hours from 7 to 9 p.m., Friday, May 9, at Perkins Funeral Home in Dryden, NY. His life will be celebrated at a memorial service officiated by Pastors Chuck Tompkins and Dave Jones on Saturday, May 10, at 2 p.m. at Bethel Grove Bible Church, 1763 Slaterville Rd., Ithaca, NY. Interment will be at Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden, NY.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made either to Bethel Grove Bible Church designated to Home Missions, or to Grace Covenant Church, c/o Pastor Timothy Beam, 3171 Whitewood Ave., Holland, MI 49424.
