POLLEY _ Charles William 1917 - 2006 On Wednesday, December 6, 2006, Chuck Polley, our loving partner, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and respected friend passed away peacefully at the age of 89 at Agape Hospice in Calgary. Chuck will be remembered by his life partner May Sammit; his two children, Linda (Peter) Skiehar of Calgary and Joe Polley of Ottawa. Papa is fondly remembered as only having two allergies "Hard Work and Pain," by his grandchildren, Sandy (Tom), Stephen, Jason (Catalina), Sally (Mike), Dan (Jen), Scott (Shelia), Krista (Eric), and Suzzie and his great-granddaughter Emily. Chuck was predeceased by his lovely wife Lloy (nee Vanstone) who passed away in 1971. Chuck was born in Liverpool, England while his mother was visiting his father during his service tour in World War I. Chuck spent most of his 89 years in Ontario. He followed in his father's footsteps and served as a Chief Petty Officer in the Royal Canadian Navy during World War II. He seldom talked of his years of service but they brought him much pride as evident in his many years of exemplary service with the Royal Canadian Legion. Following the war he began his career with the CN Railroad as a machinist. At fifty-seven he retired from his well earned position of Inspector for the Canadian Railroad Transport Commission just a few years after the death of his wife Lloy. His retirement years truly became golden when he met May Sammitt. Chuck's family wish to express their heartfelt gratitude and admiration to May for the love and respect that she shared with Chuck for some thirty years. We love you May. Chuck and May have spent the last five years living in Calgary near his daughter Linda and her family. A private family Service will be held on Monday, December 11, 2006 in Calgary. In lieu of flowers Chuck's wish was for donations to be made directly to Agape Hospice in Calgary where the staff helped him spend his last days with dignity and respect (1302 - 8 Avenue N.W., Calgary, AB T2N 1B8. Phone 403-282-6588). An additional Memorial Service will be held next summer in Stratford, Ontario, which will be Chuck's final resting place. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family at www.mem.com . FOSTER'S GARDEN CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME and CREMATORIUM. Telephone: 297-0888.
