->Hale, Charles M.Charles M. Hale (Chuck or Charlie) passed away April 6, 2013. He was born June 28, 1923 to Alice M. Hale and Bert E. Hale of Chenango Bridge. He graduated in 1940 from North High in Binghamton. In 1944 he married Patricia Lawson before he left for Europe with the U.S Army during World War II. While there he served in campaigns for the Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe. Upon returning to the USA, he used the GI Bill to apprentice with a well known jeweler and in due time had his own jewelry store on Court Street in Binghamton. With the help of his wife, "Hale's Jewelers" was established and thrived for many, many years. Charles lived in Chenango Bridge until he was admitted to the NYS Veterans' Home at Oxford in 2008. Charles is survived by his brother Barry W. Hale (Sandra) of Greene, NY, his sister Elizabeth Hale Rowe (Robert) of DeRuyter, NY, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Patricia in 2003. He was also predeceased by his parents Bert E. and Alice M. Hale, his sister Alice Hale Hutchinson in 1953, and his brother Bert E. Hale, Jr. (COL USAF) in 1980. Charles' family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the NYS Veterans' Home at Oxford for the compassionate care they gave him and the dignity they treated him with in his last years. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, April 13 at Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango St. Port Dickinson with Pastor Steve Chastain officiating. Burial will follow at Kattelville Cemetery.
