->BANGOR AND LINCOLN - Charles M. Casey, 83, husband of Diana Casey, died July 9, 2014 in Bangor. Charles grew up in East Millinocket and graduated from Schenck High School in 1949.He also graduated from the University of Maine. He belonged to Phi Eta Kappa Fraternity. He received his Masters and C.A.S. from the University of Maine as well. He was a veteran of the U S Air Force. Charles worked in Buffalo NY as an engineer. After several years, he made a career change and entered the field of Education. It was his passion and he worked as an educator for 33 years. He began as a math teacher in Fort Fairfield before going into administration. He served as K-12 principal in Mattawamkeag and was high school principal in Livermore Falls. He also was Superintendent of Schools in Pittsfield and Lincoln. He was a perfectionist and took great pride in doing a good job. His Catholic faith was very important to him. He enjoyed being an altar server as a youth. As an adult, he taught Sunday school and served as a Lecturer. Charles' favorite hobby was gardening. He had a beautiful weedless garden and loved sharing his produce with friends and neighbors. He also enjoyed camping with his family and friends, especially in Bar Harbor and Hampton Beach, NH. He spent many happy days at the family cottage in Lincoln. Charles' parting words would be his familiar "Behave Yourself !" He was predeceased by his parents, Harold and Margaret Casey, his son, Harry in 2006, his brother, John and his sister, Mary. He is survived by his wife, Diana (Eslin) Casey, his daughter, Susan Thornton and her husband, Robert, and their children, Nicholas, Ryan and Kaitlyn of Lincoln, and his grandson, Charles Casey II, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama.Visiting hours will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, the Rosary being said during the evening hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, July 14 at St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church, Lincoln, with the Rev. Myles Cyr presiding. Interment will be in Lincoln Cemetery.
