SAVARD Charles Joseph Edward (Jack) April 8, 1920 - October 15,2008 Jack Savard passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, in the Peace Arch Hospital, White Rock B.C., at 88 years of age. Predeceased by Violet, his loving wife of 60 years, in 2003 and daughter Lorraine in 1988 he is survived by sister Agnes. A devoted father, he will be greatly missed by sons Edward and Gordon (Petra) and daughters Gloria (Shin), Marietta and Wendy (Cliff). Grandpa Jack was loved and respected by 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. Jack Savard was born in Irma, Alberta where his parents (Ida and Charlie Savard) farmed. He served in the Canadian Army overseas during WW II, after which he returned to farming and served on Executive Boards for Farmers Union of Alberta, Alberta Wheat Pool, Wainwright Stampede and coached Minor Hockey. In 1968 he moved his family to White Rock, B.C. and was employed with the City of New Westminster where he was dubbed "Jack of all Trades" as his skills in welding, construction, equipment repair and inventive tool-making knew no limits! Up until the last few years, Jack curled with the Peace Arch Curling Club and threw a mean game of Horseshoes. He displayed random acts of kindness every day, such as weeding flowerbeds and picking up park litter on his way to and from The Pantry and The Whitespot in White Rock. The family wish to thank the staff at Westminster House and Peace Arch Hospital (Emergency, 4th Floor, 6th Floor Palliative Care Unit) for amazing care and compassion. Jack's love, kindness, strong work ethic, humour and warmth will be missed by all. In memory of Jack Savard, take a walk on a sunny day with loved ones.
