Charles F. McFadden MILFORD, DEL.- After a long struggle with ALS and cancer, Charlie went home to be with the Lord, on Friday, April 18, 2014, surrounded by his family. He was born in Chicopee Falls, Mass. on Feb. 20, 1935, to the late Charles A. and Genevieve Belle-Isle McFadden. His family moved to Lebanon, N.J., where he graduated from North Hunterdon Regional High School, attended business school and Rutgers University. He was a life member of the Lebanon Volunteer Fire Company, president of the school board, and member of the town council. He was an ordained deacon and elder at Lebanon Reformed Church and served on the church board for many years. Upon moving to High Falls, N.Y., he was elected fire commissioner and was a member of the Community Church of High Falls. He was an accountant for F.L. Smidth and Company in Lebanon, and later, an accountant for St. Paul Reinsurance Company of New York City. After moving to High Falls, he worked at Mohonk Mountain House. Upon his retirement, he moved to Slaughter Beach, Del., and enjoyed living near the Delaware Bay. He was active in the life of the Houston United Methodist Church until poor health kept him at home. Charlie enjoyed camping and traveling with his family, especially to the Canadian Maritimes and Ocracoke, N.C. He was always doing cross word puzzles and enjoyed watching a good football game. He is survived by Helen, his wife of 59 years; children, Kerry and Penny of Pittstown, N.J., Laurie and David of Montville, N.J. and Kathleen of Slaughter Beach, Del.; grandchildren, Bethany of Tokyo, Japan, Kyle of Phillipsburg, N.J. and Melissa and Mark of Rutherford, N.J. He is also survived by three furry friends, Seamus, Robbie and Fiona. A celebration of his life will be held at Houston United Methodist Church, 235 Broad Street, Houston, Del., on Monday, April 28, 2014 at 12 p.m. Friends may greet the family after 11 a.m. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to Houston United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 43, Houston, Del., 19954 or Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, Del., 19963.
