Charles A. Mitchell, age 85, of Twin Coach Court, Carriage Cove Mobile Home Park, South Daytona, died at his summer home in his hometown of Erie, PA. on Tuesday, June 24, 2008. He was born October 17, 1922. He married Margaret "Peg" Boniger on September 15, 1956. He served in World War II in both the European and Asiatic Theaters. He worked as an expediter at Erie General Electric for 22 years, he retired in 1986. He moved to DeLand, FL in 1988. He was a 17-year member of St. Peter's Church in DeLand, where he became a Third Degree Knight of Columbus, and was a member of their traditional choir. In early 2005, he moved to Ormond Beach and finally to South Daytona in early 2007. After moving to Florida, Peg formed West Volusia Right to Life, and Chuck served as president and board member of Florida Right to Life for a term. Survivors include his wife of almost 52 years, Peggy; two daughters, Mary Battista, husband, Tom, and Susan Kiddo, husband, Mark; four sons, Christopher, Timothy, and partner, Carlos M. Oliva, David W., wife, Theresa, and Thomas; two brothers, Francis "Fritz", Jerome, wife, Helen; two sisters, Dawn Laughlin Levin, and Elizabeth John; seven grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; brothers-in-law, Richard (Dick) Boniger, and Charles L. Boniger; a sister-in-law, Kathy Boniger Kees; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Meda Mitchell, three sisters and three brothers. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Luke Church in Erie on July 24th, 2008. Burial will follow in Mary Queen of Peace Cemetery.
