Charles M. "Roe" Anderson, 71, of 663 Hart Cut Road, passed away after a brief struggle with cancer on Friday, June 24, 2005, at his home.Born in Greenville County, he was a son of the late H. Sherman Anderson and Cora Mae Hargrove Anderson.Mr. Anderson was the owner of Charles M. Anderson Builders, Inc. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Cox Chapel Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon and Sunday School Teacher, along with a variety of other offices. He was a member of the Gideon's International and the Tyger Masonic Lodge for many years.Surviving are his loving wife of 51 years, Callie Cox Anderson; a wonderful daughter and son-in-law, Regina A. and Andy Ray; and two very special grandchildren, Elizabeth and David Ray; four brothers and their wives, Jack D. Anderson and Mary of Travelers Rest, Robert L. Anderson and Frances of Taylors, Gary R. Anderson and Susie of Greenville, and George D. Anderson and Grace of Travelers Rest; four sisters and their husbands, June A. Henson and Carl of Taylors, Eunice A. Mathis of Guntersville, Ala., Marthlyn A. Veal and Maynard, and Ann A. Ward and Ollis of Travelers Rest.He was predeceased by a precious daughter, Laura Mae Anderson; two brothers, Sherman L. and Lindsey M. Anderson; and a sister, Beth A. Burgess.Mr. Anderson had a very close and loving family relationship with Callie's sister, Leila Mae Cox of Black Mountain, N.C.; and brothers, J.C. and wife, Frances Cox, of Pelzer, Calvin and wife, Rose Cox, of Travelers Rest, Johnny and wife, Mildred Cox, of Williamston, and Landrum and wife, Kathy Cox, of Marietta. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Cox Chapel Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery.The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. this evening at The Howze Mortuary.The family will be at the home.Memorials may be made to Cox Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 588 Hart Cut Road, Marietta, SC 29661.The Howze Mortuary, Travelers Rest, is in charge of arrangements.
