HINSDALE - Cecile "Putie" Hale of Sherlock Hollow Road, recently of The Pines, passed away Saturday (Jan. 24, 2015) at The Pines Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center, Olean, in the presence of her loving family.Born July 30, 1929, in Olean, she was one of five children born to Velma Smith O'Dell. On Aug. 17, 1946, in Portville, she married James C. Hale Sr., who predeceased her Nov. 17, 1998.Mrs. Hale formerly owned and operated a beauty shop in her home in Hinsdale for many years, and also worked for the former Acme Electric Co., Cuba, prior to her retirement.She was a member of the St. Stephen's Club in Olean, and she loved shopping as well as making trips to the casino. She was an avid fan of the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres.Surviving are three children, James (Peggy) Hale Jr. of Maiden, N.C., Suzanne (Walter) Putt and Michael (Kelly) Hale Sr., both of Hinsdale; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Smith of Portville; a sister, Nancy (Danny) Main of Cuba; and several nieces and nephews.In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Terry Lee O'Dell; and a brother, Lester Maxson.Friends will be received from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday (Jan. 27, 2015) at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Road, Olean.
