Cecil Kelly CarterCecil Kelly Carter, 72, of Okeechobee died March 6, 2008 at his home. Mr. Carter was born Feb. 27, 1936 in Okeechobee to the late Sanland and Polly Ann (Yates) Carter. He was a grove worker and he also worked on cattle ranches. He is preceded in death by his brothers Junior Carter, Bud Carter, Luther Lowe, James Carter and Henry Carter; sisters Hattie Lamb, Olida Arnold, Arbel Raulerson, Arzona Prebble, Minnie Strickland and Ula Yates.He is survived by his companion, Laverne Grider; sisters Doris Heckert, and Annie L. Tyson all of Okeechobee; daughter Pam; sons Kelly Carter Jr. of Idaho, Buzz Carter of Alabama and Kevin and Jason Carter both of Oklahoma; a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Monday, March 10, 2008 from 4 to 7 p.m., at Bass Okeechobee Chapel. Graveside funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at Basinger Cemetery with Pastor Don Leon officiating. Friends may sign the guest book at www.bassokeechobeefuneralhome.com.
