Catherine Peterson, 76, of Plainfield, N.J., departed this life on Feb. 2, 2011. Services will be held on Monday, Feb. 7, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Nesbitt Funeral Home, 165 Madison Ave., Elizabeth, N.J. Visitation is from 10 a.m. until time of services. Born in Elizabeth, Cathy was educated in the Elizabeth school system. She worked for Prudential Insurance and then the Internal Revenue Service as an agent for over 30 years in the Newark and Mountainside offices. She retired from the IRS in 1990 and received a Service of Merit award for her years of dedicated service. In 1977, Cathy moved to Plainfield, N.J., where she resided for 34 years. Cathy was preceded in death by a son, Glenn; her parents, Alexander and Weiner, and her sisters, Thelma, Ophelia, and Margie. Cathy leaves many cherished memories in the hearts and minds of those who loved her, her companion, Thomas Green; one daughter, Joanne Anderson; one brother, Alexander Walker Jr.; nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and a host of other family and friends.
