CATHERINE MARY MOORE1913-2007Catherine Mary (Donovan) Moore of Pensacola, FL, passed away Monday, February 05, 2007. She was born in Boston, Massachusetts on Christmas day 1913. She was happily married to Captain Frederick T. Moore Jr., USN, also from Boston, for 30 years. A former Chief of Staff for CNATRA here in Pensacola, he preceded her in death 35 years ago. A Navy wife for 35 years, during which she raised 7 children: Maureen, Tom, Mike, Susan, Patricia, Chris, and Tim. She also has 13 wonderful grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.With her children away from home she decided to attend college herself, graduating at age 65 from the University of West Florida with a degree in English. She will lovingly be remembered for her many gifts and interests she displayed during her long life. Her love of "words", so much so that you rarely stumped her when asked the definition of the most obscure word. It was a delight to try. Her love for cooking, every night a gourmet surprise, candlelight only! Her love of music, having played violin in earlier years. Her love for reading and poetry resulting in some being published. Her love of flowers, she knew each by name. And although basically shy her love of people and especially children. But most of all her delightful Irish wit, in concert with her great courage and quiet faith that brought great joy to many during these final challenging years. We loved her so much here on Earth and now it's time to share her with Our Lord, her devoted husband, beloved parents, siblings, friends, with the Blessed Mother and all the Saints. We will miss you so much, mom, but will see you soon please God. A very special thanks to the angels God sent to us through Covenant Hospice over the last two years: Jan, Pauline, Shaun, Andrea, Barbara, Lorna, Marti, Dr. Brandhorst and many others of their support staff. The family will visit with friends at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Monday, Feb. 12, 2007, from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral mass begins at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Barrancas National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Covenant Hospice, 5041 North 12th Avenue, Pensacola, FL, 32504.Arrangements by OAK LAWN FUNERAL HOME, 619 New Warrington Rd, Pensacola, FL.
