November 2, 2006 Catherine Linehan Ryan, 93, of Westvale, died peacefully at home on Thursday. A lifetime resident of Syracuse, Kate was secretary for Congressman James M. Hanley for 10 years. Kate was a daily communicant of St. Charles Borromeo Church where she was also a member of the St. Joseph's Guild. Catherine served as president of the Tipperary Hill unit of the American Legion Auxiliary. Her husband of 52 years, John F. Ryan, died in 1996. Kate will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia A. Ryan, of Westvale; granddaughters, Colleen, Erin and Katie Brereton (Jason Musante) and great-grandchildren, Bobby and Sarah Rickard. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Charles Borromeo Church where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Arrangements are by Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of CNY, 990 Seventh North St., Liverpool, NY, 13088-6148.
