Catherine L. Patterson, 88, passed away at 10:58 a.m. Monday, Dec. 7, 2009, at Lutheran Community Home in Seymour, after an extended illness. Private graveside services are to be held Friday at Springdale Cemetery in Madison. Arrangements were under the direction of Vail-Holt Funeral Home, Madison. There is no visitation. Mrs. Patterson retired from Muscatatuck Developmental Center as a Level III Psychiatric Attendant in 1986. She was a member of the Christian church. She enjoyed cooking, fishing, gardening and taking care of pets. Born to Drufal G. and Carmen Newman, in Bagdad, Ky., on Feb. 11, 1921, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hughes C. Patterson; three brothers, Donald, Julian and Marion; and a sister, Mary Huls. She is survived by a daughter, Carolyna Ivy; two sons, Dana Ross Koontz and Timothy Michael Koontz; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Memorials in the form of donations may be presented to the Humane Society.
