HOLMES _ Catherine (Cathy), died quietly in the arms of both her husband and her daughter on Friday, November 29, 2002. Cathy was born June 18, 1929 in Holy Cross Hospital, Calgary, Alberta. Pre-deceased by her parents Lily and Jack Stevenson, and sister Shirley Edwards. Survived by her lifelong friend and husband George; daughter Karen Wegener (Frank); grandchildren Melissa and Sean Skoda; nieces Brenda Edwards and Marian Stack (Martin), and nephew Michael Edwards. Cathy went to St. Mary's School for girls and graduated in 1947. She had many lifelong friends from her time at school and while living in Calgary. Her family moved to Vancouver when she was eighteen. Cathy married her first husband Harry Desjardins and they had a daughter Karen. Widowed at an early age, she started work at The Royal Bank. Cathy later met up with her childhood friend George and they were married in 1960. In 1963 they, along with daughter Karen, moved to Dawson Creek. In 1968, they moved back to Vancouver. In 1976, they moved to Victoria and returned to Richmond in 1979. Cathy developed severe osteoporosis, had multiple fractures, and required constant attention and medication. But through it all she retained her kindness and her sense of humour. A Funeral Mass will be held on December 10, 2002 at 3:00 p.m. at Saint Joseph the Worker Parish, 4451 Williams Road, Richmond, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Canadian Cancer Society, Memoriam Donations, 565 West 10th Avenue, Vancouver, BC, V5Z 4J4. Personal Alternative Funeral Services 604-275-7755
