CATHERINE ELIZABETH HALEThe family of Catherine Elizabeth Hale wish to announce her passing on January 12, 2017. We are grateful for our memories and saddened by our family''s loss. Catherine was born in 1918 and raised in St. Catharines, Ontario. She graduated from Toronto General Nursing School in 1941. While nursing she met and married Cecil James Hale and moved to Saskatchewan in 1941. Cecil and Catherine raised 5 children. Surviving children are Terry Hale (Linda), Sharon Wallace, and Ruth McIvor (John), Wendy Hale, Harold Nelson. Catherine was predeceased by her husband Cecil, son Ken Hale, and daughter Gwen Nelson. Catherine has fifteen grandchildren, twenty-five great- grandchildren, and three great-great- grandchildren. Catherine and Cecil initially settled in Lemsford, Sask. and moved to Abbey, Sask. and purchased a general store. In 1948, Cecil began farming full time. In 1963, the family moved to Saskatoon, Sask. and Catherine resumed her nursing career at the Royal University Hospital. She was very proud of her nursing profession and was the family and neighborhood nurse. She was an accomplished gardener and an active member of the United Church. She traveled extensively in her later years. She was a caring mother, grandmother, and friend. Catherine''s informative handwritten letters bound the east and west families together. Catherine lived out her last years at Riverside Terrace in Saskatoon where she was respectfully cared for. Memorial service will occur when the flowers are blooming this summer. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Canadian Cancer Society or the Terry Fox Foundation. Goodbye my family, my life is past. I loved you all to the very last.
