Catherine Elizabeth (Zimmer) Smith of Smithville FlatsCatherine Elizabeth (Zimmer) Smith, 64, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, October 1, 2002 at Wilson Memorial Hospital in Johnson City. She was born in Queens, N.Y., the daughter of the late George William and Elizabeth Marguerita (Hettel) Zimmer. She is survived by her husband, Richard D. Smith; son and daughter-in-law, David and Vicki Curtis and their children, Dustin, Joshua and Jennifer; a daughter, Virginia (Curtis) Swartwood, and Michael Freije and children, Chad, Shawn, Eric, Ashley, Michael, Jr., Nicole and Anthony; son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Paula Curtis and their boys, Jonathan and Jared; daughter and son-in-law, JulieBeth and William Holdrege, daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and Greg Cempa, children, Hannah, Marissa, Caleb and Peter, son, Dennis Smith and Helene Kenyon and son, Collin; sisters, Shirley Zimmer, and Beverly and Daniel Driesbaugh and their children, Denise, Brenda, DeAnn and Annie; two aunts, Augusta Zimmer and Eleanore (Zimmer) Salzman. Cathy and her husband, Dick, owned and operated Hidden Valley Archery Shop in Smithville Flats. She dreamed of a place where families could be brought together so they could share in the joy of shooting archery. She offered leagues to L.E.A.H., Broome Developmental, and to children of ages 4 to 17. She went to rest into loving arms of her Lord and Savior.Jeremiah 33:3 Call on the Lord and he will answer you. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, October 5, 2002 at the Root Funeral Home, with Rev. George DiFuvolvio and Rev. Peter Bianchi officiating. Burial will be in Sylvan Lawn Cemetery, Greene. Friends of the family may call Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Root Funeral Home, 23 N. Chenango St., Greene.
