PORTAL, Ga. - Mrs. Catherine Calhoun Davis, age 65, died Sunday, May 15, 2011, at Ogeechee Area Hospice Center. She was a native of Bulloch County and lived in Emanuel County, where she attended Emanuel County Institute. She was a graduate of Swainsboro Technical College with a degree in accounting and was employed with Pride Manufacturing, in Portal, Georgia, for 25 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Portal. She leaves memories to be cherished by her husband, Bobby Ray Davis of Portal, Ga.; a daughter, Lisa Grooms (fiance, Kenny Keel) of Register, Ga.; two sons, Dennis (Tami) Davis and Byron (Shannon) Davis of Portal, Ga.; parent, Lula Calhoun (the late George Calhoun Sr.) of Sylvania, Ga.; four grandsons, Trent (Emily) Grooms of Middleground Community, Chase Grooms of Statesboro, Ga., Haze Grooms and Carson Davis of Portal, Ga.; four granddaughters, Amber Davis, Alaina Davis, Ali Davis and Delaney Davis, all of Portal, Ga.; two great-grandsons, Aiden Taylor of Portal, Ga., and Caden Grooms of Statesboro, Ga.; three brothers, Joe Calhoun, Roy Calhoun and Wesley Calhoun, all of Portal, Ga.; seven sisters, Caroline Neely of Millen, Ga., Nancy (Charles) Davis of Portal, Ga., Betty (Johnny) Biggers of Metter, Ga., Dot Cowart of Metter, Ga., Penny Calhoun of Charleston, S.C., Jean (Webster) Hendrix of Independence, Ky., Sandra Jenkins of Sylvania, Ga.; four sisters-in-law, Bernice Lane of Portal, Ga., Bette (Ben) Wilkerson of Richmond Hill, Ga., Collette Davis (the late Henry Davis) of Portal, Ga., and Brenda Calhoun; brother-in-law, Paul (Faye) Davis of Kingsland, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Terry Calhoun, Craig Davis, Greg Calhoun, Nathan Davis, Kevin Calhoun and Ronnie Lane. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with Dr. Maurice Crowder and the Rev. Roy Jarriel officiating.
