CRAIG, Catherine Singer Died unexpectedly on January 23, 2009 at her home. She was 69 years old and a lifetime resident of Elmira. Born November 29, 1939 she was the youngest of three children of Thomas Singer and Alberta Price Craig. Kitty attended local schools and graduated from high school at the Stoneleigh Prospect Hill School in Greenfield, Massachusetts. She completed her education at Garland Jr. College in Boston, then she worked at the Chemung Valley Savings and Loan Association and its successors until her retirement. She is survived by her sister, Alice McIlrath (Donald) of Rochester, Minnesota; her brother, Douglas Craig (Nancy) of Scarsdale, New York; her nephews, Harry N. Hoffman III, Thomas S. Craig II and Timothy J.L. Craig; her niece, Martha P. Hoffman; four great nephews and a great niece. A memorial service will be held at Grace Episcopal Church at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 28, 2009. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial gifts be made to Grace Episcopal Church or to the YWCA of Elmira.
