Catherine Carter - Romero HAMILTON Catherine Carter - Romero, 49, of Hamilton, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2015 at Chandler Hall in Newtown, PA, after a courageous battle with cancer, with her loving family by her side. Born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and formerly of Orillia, Ontario, Cathy had been a resident of Hamilton for the past 18 years. Cathy was proud of her Canadian roots and loved her American home. She loved skiing, photography, music, and sailing. Cathy is survived by her loving husband, Carl Romero of Hamilton; a daughter, Samantha Romero and a son, Robert Romero, both at home; her parents, Edward and Myrna Osborne Carter of Orillia, Ontario; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Janet and Tom Earle, and Susan Carter and her husband Grant Dickie, all of Orillia, Ontario; her nieces and nephews, Lindsay, McKenna, Nicholas, Lucas, and Callum, to whom she loved being "Auntie Cathy", and many aunts, uncles, cousins, dear friends, members of the extended Romero family, and her beloved dog "Bert". Cathy was a member of the Rider University family for more than 15 years, most recently as the Director of Creative Services in the Office of University Communications and Marketing. Cathy's love and passion for Rider ran deep. She mentored many student-athletes throughout the years, developing life-long friendships and bonds. Rider's field hockey team in particular was very near and dear to Cathy. She was the team's beloved mentor and mom who developed close relationships with the players. In appreciation of all her support, the team dedicates a game every year to Cathy during breast cancer awareness month. She led her life with great strength, grace, courage, love, and generosity, throughout her 13 year battle against cancer. The family will receive visitors on Sunday from 1 - 4 p.m. at the M.
