SHOREHAM - Catherine A. Menard, 96, died April 18, 2011, at Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Middlebury. Born in Rochester Aug. 9, 1914, she was the daughter of Edgar P. and Bessie (Gokey) Akey. She was a graduate of Mount St. Mary High School and attended Trinity College in Burlington and Burlington Business College. Mrs. Menard was a homemaker for many years and served as Shoreham town treasurer and assistant town clerk. She was a member and organist of St. Genevieve's Catholic Church. Survivors include a son, Dwight Menard of Shoreham; two daughters, Cynthia Brush and Allison Dayton, both of Middlebury; six grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph E. Menard, in 1987 and six siblings, Dorothea, John, Donald, Kenneth, James and Robert Akey. There will be no calling hours. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, April 25, at St. Genevieve's Church, Shoreham, with the Rev. William Beaudin as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Genevieve's Cemetery, Shoreham. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Genevieve's Catholic Church or the Harp Therapy Program, Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, 30 Porter Drive, Middlebury, VT 05753.
