KEENE - Carroll Allen, 89, passed away peacefully at his home on Nov. 7, 2013. He was born on August 28, 1924, the son of Ole and Ruby Alfsen.He was raised in Temple, at the Temple Cabins, which his father built, and they ran for many years. He served in the United States Navy and achieved the rank of Quarter Master 2nd Class during World War II. He married Elinor (Curtis) Allen and raised their four children in Temple; James Allen of N. Little Rock, Ariz.; Susan Bohan and her husband, Peter, of Goffstown; Pat McKenna and her husband, Francis, of Dublin, and Michael Allen of Pottsville, Pa. He is also the proud grandfather and great-grandfather of 23 children. His loving wife, Elinor, of 68 years, predeceased him in May 2013. Wherever you knew Carroll he was always whistling, maybe it was at NHBB, where he worked for many years, being a Mason at Masonic Lodge or giving blood at the Red Cross (31+ Gallons over 60 years). He also enjoyed square dancing, riding his bike, playing cribbage, working in his garden and spending time with his extended family at Squam Lake. Carroll also enjoyed greeting the nurses at Langdon Place of Keene every morning. We will remember him with fond, loving memories and he will be missed.There will be a private graveside ceremony at a later date.
