Funeral was at 1 p.m. Monday at Morgan Funeral Chapel for Carrie Mae Smith, 82, Birmingham, who went to be with the Lord Friday, July 24, 2009. The Rev. Keith Church officiated. Burial was in Rainbow Memorial Gardens. Morgan Funeral Chapel and Crematory directing. Mrs. Smith was a member of Little Jerusalem Full Gospel Church in Bessemer. She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Smith; and parents, William and Bertie Rowe. She is survived by her daughter, Joyce (Terry) White, Birmingham; sons, Wayne Smith, Birmingham, Harold (Debra) Smith, McCalla, and Dee (Denise) Smith, Birmingham; sister, Florene Keenum, Gadsden; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Derk Smith, Dakota Smith, Brian White, Greg Smith, Jeremy Smith and Jonathan Smith. Special thanks to Carman, Kim, Brenda, JoBeth and all the nurses and staff at Oasis Hospice.
