Carrie Estelle Brown, 89, Florence, Ala., died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2001. Visitation will be noon-2 p.m. today at Greenview. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Greenview Funeral Home chapel, with burial in Florence City Cemetery. Officiating at the service will be Henry Melton.Mrs. Brown was a resident of Mitchell-Hollingsworth Nursing Home. She was a native of Jackson County, Ala.Mrs. Brown is survived by her daughter, Julia Faye Boberg, Florence, Ala.; sister, Clarice White, Killen, Ala.; brother, Wilson Hodges, Florence, Ala.; four grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren.Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her husband, Orville Russell Brown; her parents, Chester R. Hodges and Stella Nicholas Hodges; brothers, Harold Hodges and R.T. Hodges; and a sister, Vivian Lewis.Pallbearer will include Louis Mitchell Sr., Bobby Glaze, Gary White, Joe Hodges and Leonard McCoy.Mrs. Brown was retired from Genesco after 47 years of service. She was a member of St. James United Methodist Church for many years. She was a member of the local Garment Workers Union.Greenview Funeral Home of Florence is directing.
