Carrie Carter, wife of the Honorable John R. Carter, Mayor of Gray Court, of 214 Willis St., died Sunda at St. Francis Hospital in Greenville. A native of Savannah, Ga., she was a daughter of the late Sam Ling Jr. and Annett Cuyler Ling. She was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church in Gray Court, the April Showers Chapter No. 184 O.E.S. and the Azah Court No. 101, Daughters of Isis, and was an employee of Whitten Center in Clinton. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Wadis Boxton of Augusta, Ga., and Kris L. Carter of Simpsonville; five brothers, Willie Blake of Scotia, Leroy Bostick, Perry Ling, Sam Ling, and Charles Ling, all of Savannah, Ga.; two sisters, Laurel Simmons and Mattie Davis, both of Savannah, Ga.; and five grandchildren. Funeral service: 2 p.m. Thursday at Pleasant View Baptist Church in Gray Court, with the Rev. Waddy L. Talley and the Rev. John L. Black officiating. Burial will be held at the church cemetery.
