Carolyn M. (Schell) Johnson LAKE KATRINE- Carolyn M. (Schell) Johnson, 83, who was proud of her Irish heritage, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013 at Ten Broeck Commons Nursing Home. She was born in Kingston on Jan. 6, 1930 to the late Alice Rappleyea Mogan. Carol graduated from Kingston High School, then the Benedictine Hospital School of Nursing, in 1951. She worked as a Registered Nurse at the Benedictine Hospital for many years then retired as a Registered Nurse from IBM in Kingston. She was a member of the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Ruth Guild, had served on the church council and was an avid bowler in the IBM bowling league. She is survived by a daughter, Alice Hackett of Saugerties; sons, Joseph Schell and his wife Judy of Kingston and Vincent Schell and his wife Kathy of New Port Richey, Fla.; sisters, Jacquelyn Flowers and her husband Al of Phoenix, Ariz.; grandchildren, Nicholas, Ryan and Matthew Schell, Alissa Hackett, Grace Graff, Christopher Banks and Peter Schell, Trent and Jensen Costello; great-grandchildren, Gabriella and Dominic Graff; and nieces and nephews. Carol was preceded in death by her first husband, Peter Schell and her second husband, Oscar M. Johnson; brother, Roger Mogan; and son-in-law, Clark Hackett. The family will receive friends on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. Nightingale Services will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Monday evening at the Henry J. Bruck Funeral Home, 261 Broadway, Kingston, N.Y. Service of the Burial of the Dead with Holy Communion will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 22 Livingston Street, Kingston with Reverend Dennis O’Rourke officiating. Burial will follow in Trinity Cemetery in Saugerties.
