JORDAN, Carolyn Laray, 82, of Zephyrhills, passed away February 19, 2009, at her home. She was born August 31, 1926, in Zephyrhills to James and Alice Mott. She held the offices of worthy matron and Esther in the Crescent Chapter of the Eastern Star and was an active member of the Garden Gate Circle chapter of the Zephyrhills Garden Club. She had been an active member of First Baptist Church of Zephyrhills for many years, but recently attended New Hope Baptist Church. She was also a member of the League of Women Voters and volunteered for many other worthy causes. As a military wife, she traveled to many places, including Europe, Hawaii, Alaska and the Bahamas. Above all things, she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 40 years, James W. Jordan. Her survivors include her daughter, Cassandra (Johnnie) Shepherd of Tallahassee, Fla.; grandson, Carey L. Shepherd of Tallahassee; two grand-daughters, Hillary S. (Todd) Timmons of Savanna, Ga., and Erin E. (Nicholas) Platt of Tallahassee; two great-grand-children, J.T. Timmons and Laynie Timmons, both of Savanna. A visitation will take place 4-6 p.m. Sunday, February 22, at Hodges Family Funeral Home, 36327 Highway 54, Zephyrhills. Funeral Services are 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Florida National Cemetery.
