Carolyn Thomas Jordan - SAVANNAH - Carolyn Thomas Jordan, 95, of Savannah, GA, died in her home on March 11th, 2013. Carolyn spent her childhood years in Glenwood and graduated from Glenwood High School before attending Wesleyan College in Macon. She later moved with her mother and sisters to Savannah where her father had maintained business offices. Carolyn developed strong, lasting friendships in Savannah and adopted the city as her own. Carolyn was active in Wesley Monumental United Methodist church. Her extensive charitable work was a point of quiet focus for her. Through it she touched children, animals, and those in special need, locally and around the globe. She was a disciplined and devoted visual artist whose most recent of multiple art shows was held last year at River's Edge Retirement Community where Carolyn had enjoyed living for the past thirteen years. Carolyn attended art classes most of her adult life and could be found every Monday morning quietly drawing in the activities room at River's Edge. Her early art work, much of it depicting the marshes, parks, and historic sites around Savannah, hangs in numerous homes and professional offices. Jubilant, open hearted, and inquisitive, Carolyn loved dance, art, and music. In her last days, she would still recite upon request Milton's Ode on His Blindness and pages of Bible verses. She was a skilled and avid joke teller. And Carolyn spent many hours a week in prayer. Her prayer life was as disciplined as her art and charity work. She leaves us with the legacy of living in a failing body with gratitude, humor, abounding faith, and boundless positive energy. In perhaps the greatest accomplishment that can be said, her life lifted ours. She is survived by her sister, Frances Moore; her nieces, Linda Moore, Cynthia Moore, and Sharon Simon; nephews Mac Jordan, Hugh Jordan, Tom, Jordan, Robert Jordan, and John Davis; and numerous adored grand nieces and nephews. Carolyn outlived many of her lifelong friends and continued to embrace new ones with open arms. Carolyn spent her final years in the hands-on care of her loving team of caregivers expertly led by Helen Colbert and including Josie Mincey. Each of these women became dear to her and are very much members of the family of her heart. Donations may be made to the Union Mission of Savannah, The Humane Society of Savannah's Spay and Neuter Clinic, or The Salvation Army. A graveside service was held Wednesday, March 13th at 4:00 pm in the Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery in Wheeler County with Reverend David Blalock officiating. Ronald V.
