CAROL JANE MITCHELL (NEE FULKERSON) GARY, IN Carol Jane Mitchell, age 70, of Gary, left the earth for her heavenly home on Thursday, November 20, 2014. She is survived by three children: Lawrence (Velvet) Walters, Roxanne (Roger) Hussey and Don (Melissa) Steuart; eight grandchildren: Dawn, L.J., Blake, Tiffani, Jessica, Steven, Laura and David; five great grandchildren: special friends, Mike and Carolyn and Many nieces nephews and friends. Preceded in death by her parents: Amsey and Goldie Fulkerson; daughter Shelia Kolish; four brothers and one sister. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 24, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) with Pastor Joe Anweiler, officiating. Burial to follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Hammond. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Sunday, November 23, 2014 at Bocken Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Carol has been a lifetime resident of the Calumet Area. She attended Cline Gardens Christian Church in Hessville. She enjoyed doing many types of crafts, and being a caregiver and homemaker, but her true passion was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Carol was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a dear friend to many who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
