-> Guyton - Carol Helmey O'Neal, 78, died Monday, September 12, 2005 at her residence after a long illness. The Effingham County native was a very active member of Pineora Baptist Church for 56 years, where she was a Sunday school teacher for 15 years, sang in the choir for many years, took part in the W.M.U. and Bible school. She worked at Union Camp, White Dress Company, and as a telephone operator. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great -grandmother. She was a homemaker who loved cooking gardening, and canning vegetables. Survivors include her two daughters, Helen C. Godbee of Savannah and Peggy A. Blakely of Guyton; five sons, Jerry Bowen of Guyton, Morris J. O'Neal, Jr., of Louisana, Dilly O'Neal, Michael O'Neal, and John O'Neal all of Guyton; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one brother, Newman Helmey of Guyton; three sisters, Eleanor Clark, Clara Howard, and Ann Tuttle all of Guyton; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pineora Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Braswell, Rev. Dennis Folker, and Rev. Archie Seabrooks officiating. Interment will be in Marlow Cemetery.
