Carol Ellen Edwards Carol Ellen Edwards passed away peacefully Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002 after a courageous 15-year struggle with cancer. She was born Dec. 24, 1946 and raised in Brandon, Man., coming to live in Fort Frances, Ont. in 1968 following her marriage to Glen, who had joined the high school teaching staff in September of that year. Besides her husband, Carol leaves her daughter, Christine, and husband, Jorg Ruppenstein of Fort Frances, Ont.; son, Jeffrey and wife, Heidi, and their two children, Tanner and Emalee, of Anchorage, Alaska; mother, Margaret Miller of Fort Frances, Ont.; and sister, Catherine Kay and husband, Tom, and their two sons, Sean and Alex, of Ottawa, Ont. Carol was predeceased by her father, William Judson Miller; and an infant brother. After a successful career raising her two children, Carol returned to work at the Voyageur Trading Post, Dr. Cousineau’s office, and the Ministry of Community and Social Services. Carol’s love of people was the focus and highlight of her working life. During her school years, Carol’s main hobby was horseback riding. She competed successfully at many surrounding summer fairs and the Winter Fair in Brandon. In Fort Frances, Carol’s activities centered around her husband’s and children’s interests. She was a devoted wife and mother, and her family was her life. In 1993, she found a cabin at the lake and it was her turn to drag Glen into a new hobby and the never-ending jobs that ensued. “Carol’s Place” is the name of our cabin, and it will never be the same without her. Memorial services will be held Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002 at 4:30 p.m. at Green’s Funeral Home in Fort Frances, Ont.
