1958-2014 AUGUSTA - Carol Ann Washburn, 55, of Augusta, died unexpectedly Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, at her home. She was born in Augusta, April 30, 1958, the daughter of Robert and Dorothy Washburn. She went to Cony High School and graduated in 1976. She also attended school her junior year at Narraguagus High School in Harrington in 1975 and lived with the Grant family in Addison. She attended college at the University of Maine at Augusta, the University of Southern Maine, Kennebec Valley Technical College, where she got her EMT 1 certificate, and Mid State College. She was the owner of Transcripts Plus in Augusta for more than 18 years. Carol was a past member of the Gardiner Elks Club and ran their cribbage tournaments for two years. She was also a member of the Gardiner American Legion. She was a member of the Augusta Elks Lodge where she ran their cribbage tournaments for two years before she was a member. She was a member of the Green Street United Methodist Church where she grew up and played the flute, auto-harp and hand bells and sang in three choirs. Ms. Washburn was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Dorothy Washburn. She is survived by an uncle, Walter Washburn, of Vienna,Va.; cousins David Washburn, of Texas, Kevin Washburn, of Virginia, Bryn and Carol Washburn, of California, Christopher Washburn, of North Carolina, Marsha Hall, of Connecticut, and Dana Gilman, of Saco. At Carol's request, there will be no funeral service. Memorial donations may be directed to Mark Lapoint, 136 Albee Road, Augusta, ME 04330, to help defray funeral expenses. Arrangements are in the care of Knowlton & Hewins Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1 Church St., Augusta.
