->AUGUSTA -- Carmen E. Cyr, age 83, of Glenridge Drive, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2008, at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center at Glenridge following a long illness.She was born in Augusta on April 28, 1924, a daughter of the late Beatrice Cyr.Ms. Cyr had been employed by the State of Maine Department of Finance and Administration for 26 years. She had previously worked for Hudson Pulp and Paper and R.P. Hazzard Shoe Co.She was a communicant of St. Augustine Catholic Church, a member of the American Association of Retired Persons and the Maine State Retirees Association and was a former member of the Ladies of St. Anne Society, St. Paul's Cursillos and St. Paul's Charismatic Renewal.She enjoyed reading, singing, crossword puzzles, bingo and, most of all, spending time with her great-grandchildren.Ms. Cyr is survived by her son, David E. Cyr Sr. and his companion, Cathy Neumann, of Fairfield; a brother, Edward P. Cyr and his wife, Irene, of Palm City, Fla.; six grandchildren, David E. Cyr Jr. and his wife, Maureen, of Harrisburg, Pa., Angela J. Phillis and her husband, Michael, of West Gardiner, Tamara Neumann and her partner, Jason Saylor, and Jeremy Neumann and his wife, Val, all of Lewiston, Janette of New Jersey and Chrissie of Pennsylvania; 11 great-grandchildren, Anthony Thompson, Michaela and Amber Phillis, Michael, Samantha, Nathaniel and Olivia Neumann, Hunter, Alisha and Elizabeth Saylor and Bella of Pennsylvania; special friends Lorraine and Vi Cloutier as well as a nephew, a niece and several cousins.A gathering of family and friends will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 28, at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 29, at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Northern Avenue, Augusta.
