COX, CHRISTINE LENA - passed away at the age of 97 on Saturday, November 8, 2014, at West Hills Health and Rehab. She was born on November 3, 1917, in Elizabethton, Tennessee, but lived most of her life in Knoxville, Tennessee. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Nettie Scalf. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, James Gordon Cox; sister, Laura Kitts; and brothers, Herb Scalf and RJ Scalf. She is survived by her son, Benny Cox and wife Judy; grandchildren are Doug Cox and wife Jodi of Brentwood, Tennessee, Christopher Cox of West Chester, Pennsylvania, Anna Cox of Guelph Ontario, Canada, Charles Cox of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Gretchen Clarke and husband Hunter of Charlotte, North Carolina; great-grandchild, Jennifer Kovich and husband Kevin; and great-great grandchildren, Carter and Miles Kovich all of West Chester, Pennsylvania. Living nieces in the Knoxville area are Avis Evans, Barbara Brown; and nieces-in-law, Evelyn Kitts and Norma Kitts. She spent most of her career as a business partner with Norman and Watson Food Brokerage, Knoxville. Christine was very active in the Knoxville Pilots Club for many years. She also enjoyed the company of her little dog, Woody, flowers, gardening, and birds, which she kept well fed. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Knoxville, Tennessee. Private burial service with family will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. There will be a funeral service on Saturday, November 15, 2014, at 12:30 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 544 Broadway. Officiating will be Rev. Stephen Misenheimer. The family will greet friends after the service.
