CHESTER R. COOLEY - JERICHO - Chester R. Cooley passed away Aug. 23, 2011 in Fletcher Allen Hospital following a brief illness. He was born Sept. 26, 1919 to Ray H. Cooley and Grace Richardson Cooley, in St. Johnsbury, Vt. Chester grew up in Peacham, Vt., served as an Army medic in Europe during WWII, and was a 1950 graduate of the University of Vermont. Chester enjoyed gardening, raising beef cattle, and visiting with neighbors, relatives and friends. He retired after many years from the Vermont Department of Employment Security as a labor market analyst. Chester is survived by his wife of 60 years: Phyllis Payne, children: Ray, of Maine, Gary of Mtn. Home, Ark., and Cynthia, of Colorado Springs, Colo., grandchildren: Jennie Cooley of Lewiston, Maine, and Malinda Cooley, of Morgantown, W. Va. Visiting hours are Thursday, Aug. 25, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Corbin & Palmer Funeral Home, 9 Pleasant St., Essex Junction. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, Sept 6, 2011 at 2 p.m. in the Peacham cemetery. A reception will follow.
