ABELL, CHARLES WHITNEY, 81, of St. Cloud passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2003 at his residence. He was born in Wasington D.C. to the parents of Charles E. and Marie W. Abell on October of 1921. He was a graduate from St. Mary's Ryken High School and attended the University of Maryland. He moved to St. Cloud from Leonardtown, Maryland in 1956. He was a surveyor and a rural carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He retired from the post office in 1980. He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. He was a charter member of the St. Cloud-Kissimmee Knights of Columbus Council # 6624. Also a member of the Father William Holmes Assembly #1951, 4th Degree Knights where he served as an officer. He is preceded in death by his wife Mary Virginia "Gini" and survived by his five children, Suzanne Grissom of Kissimmee, Debby Hays of Jacksonville, C.W. Jr. of Winter Garden, Bill Abell of Alexandria, VA, Molly Smyth of Apopka; brothers Dent of TX, Eston of MD, Bert of MD; sister Lucy Nunn of NY and twelve grandchildren. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2003 from 6-9PM at Conrad & Thompson Funeral Home with a Vigil, Rosary and Knights of Columbus Ceremony starting at 6:30PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in St. Cloud at 10AM with Father Kent Walker as Celebrant with interment following at the Mount Peace Cemetery.
