JOHNSON, CAROLYN Y., 70Gainesville - Carolyn Y. Johnson, 70 went home to be with the Lord Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Shands Hospital. Carolyn was born in Palatka but lived in Gainesville all of her life. She was a graduate of Lincoln High School, and attended Florida A & M University. Carolyn was a member of Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church. Her memory will live on in the hearts of two sons, Karderick Johnson, and Broderick Woods both of Gainesville, FL; daughter Shanelle D. Carter, Gainesville, FL; two sisters, Brenda J. Chappel and Paulette Daniels, both of Gainesville, FL; two brothers Timothy Johnson, II, Gainesville, FL, and Anthony Maurice Jones Tampa, FL; 5 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. Funeral Services for Ms. Johnson will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, March 25, 2013 at Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church Rev. Karl V. Smith, Pastor Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery under the care of Chestnut Funeral Home 18 N.W. 8th Ave., Gainesville, FL. Visitation 4:00 - 7:00 PM on Sunday at Chestnut Chapel and on Monday at the church one hour before the service. The cortege will form at the home of Ms. Johnson 1009 S.E. 20th Street at 10:15 AM."A Chestnut Service"
