Carolyn Phillip Smith, 70, of Simpsonville, passed away on Nov. 17, 2005, at her home. She was the wife of Gettys Smith, and the daughter of the late Ellis P. Johnson and Mamie Stein Johnson. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to her husband, she is survived by five sons, Mike Smith and his wife, Lynn, of Piedmont, Ken Smith of Simpsonville, Steve Smith and his wife, Gail, of Simpsonville, Roger Smith and his wife, Allison, of Simpsonville, and Stanley Smith of Fountain; seven grandchildren, Sheena, Ashley, Laura, Keeley, Caitlin, Cole, and Wil Smith; three sisters, Fate Peterson and Vickie McKie, both of North Carolina, and Priscilla Uselding of Texas; three brothers, Gordon and E.P. Johnson of North Carolina, and Howard Johnson of Texas; and a very close friend, Mary Rumfelt. She was preceded in death by a sister, Shelby McInnis; and three brothers, Ben, Vernon and Charles Johnson. A visitation will be held tonight, Nov. 18, 2005, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Cannon Funerals and Cremations Fountain Inn. A graveside service will be held Saturday, Nov. 19, 2005, at 2:30 p.m. in Cannon Memorial Park.
