Bryan Bates, age 77, of Iron City, Tenn., passed away Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2010, after a brief illness. He was a native of Lawrence County, Tenn., a retired truck driver and a member of Iron City First Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23, 2010, at Loretto Memorial Chapel. Greg Morris will be officiating. Burial will follow in Hollis Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2010, at Loretto Memorial Chapel.Survivors are three sons, Ray Bates, Linden, Tenn., Marion Bates, Lawrenceburg, Tenn., Ronnie Bates, Iron City, Tenn.; two daughters, Tammy Novem, Loretto, Tenn., Connie Holt, Lawrenceburg, Tenn.; two sisters, Judy Fisher, Iron City, Tenn., Pattie Simbeck, Arlington, Texas; special friends, Lela Bates and Greg Morris; 15 grandchildren; 11 stepgrandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and 11 stepgreat-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvelle and Ruth Gambrell Bates; son, Stevie Bates; and sister, Joan Rigling.Loretto Memorial Chapel is in charge of all arrangements.
