Bonnie Sue (Ross) Davis of Shalimar, Fla., born Jan. 4, 1935, to the late Cauley and Effie Ross of Huntingdon, Tenn., passed away Aug. 18, 2009. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, William Clayton Davis; a daughter, Mary Ann Lawrence; a son, Charles C. Davis, all of Shalimar; a granddaughter, Melissa Hill of Nashville, Tenn.; and one brother, Bill Ross of Nashville. She was preceded by siblings Raymond Ross, Charline Tucker, Jesse Ray Ross, Carl Ross, Guy Ross, Retha Edwards and Marilyn Ross. As the devoted wife of a Methodist minister and a career Navy chaplain, Bonnie Sue traveled with her family to many parts of the world. After settling in Louisville, Ky., for their last assignment at the VA Medical Center, Bonnie Sue and her husband retired and moved to Shalimar in 1997. After only a few short years of enjoying their retirement, Bonnie Sue was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis in 2002 and through the help of dedicated doctors, a loving family, friends, clergy and Hospice, she was able to live out her life at home. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at McLaughlin Mortuary. Mrs. Davis will be taken to the Dilday-Carter Funeral Home, 19810 East Main, Huntingdon, TN 38344, for additional services and interment. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made either to Trinity United Methodist Church, Fort Walton Beach, or to Covenant Hospice, 101 Hart St., Niceville, Fla.
