Mr. Bobby Joe Williams, age 56, died Sunday at East Georgia Regional Medical Center after a long illness. The Bulloch County native was a graduate of Portal High School. He worked for Georgia Southern University 10 years in the grounds maintenance department and the Statesboro Herald several years as a carrier. Mr. Williams loved to fish and was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Cecil and Ruby Dickerson Williams. Survivors include two sisters and a brother-in-law, Becky and Glynn Collins and Mary Alice Williams, all of Statesboro; a brother and sister-in-law, James David and Barbara Marie Williams of Statesboro; a niece, Bridget Ann and Justin Milliken; two nephews, Joseph Daniel Williams and Matthew Alan Collins; and a great-nephew, Joshua Milliken, all of Statesboro. A memorial service will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at Merrywood Baptist Church with the Rev. Will Griffith officiating.
