Blanche I. (Sevigny) LaChanceLoving mother, grandmother, and sister; 91 LOWELL -- Blanche I. (Sevigny) LaChance, age 91, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2011, at D'Youville Senior Care in Lowell after a short illness.She was the wife of the late Oscar X. LaChance who died in 1994.Blanche was born in Lowell on November 9, 1920, the daughter of the late Philippe and Georgiana (Desharnais) Sevigny. She attended Lowell schools, and was a communicant of the former Notre Dame de Lourdes Parish, and more recently of St. Margaret Parish.Prior to her retirement, Blanche worked alongside her husband at the family owned LaChance and Son Variety Store. She also worked at Terri's Hallmark at Drum Hill in Chelmsford.Blanche enjoyed vacationing at the beach, and celebrating everyone's birthday.She is survived by her daughters, Therese "Terri" Farley Metrano of Nashua, NH, and Susan Pettoruto and her husband, Robert of Naperville, Il. She was "Mimi" to five grandchildren, Kevin Farley and his wife, Marylouise (Tornquist) of Dracut, Karen (Farley) Gilligan and her husband, Timothy of Hudson, NH, Kristopher P. Farley of Hudson, NH, Anthony Pettoruto and his wife, Cynthia (Sanchez) of Bethesda, MD, and Lindsay Pettoruto of Madison, WI. She was also "Mimi" to her five great-grandchildren, Patrick, Liam, Bridget and Declan Gilligan of Hudson, NH, and Carl James Farley of Dracut.She was also the sister of Armand Sevigny and his wife, Josephine of New Port Richey, FL; as well as several nieces and nephews.She was the sister of the late Lionel, Edgar "Freddy", Robert and Ronald Sevigny and Rita (Sevigny) Ravinski.LaCHANCE -- Relatives and friends may call at the M. R. LAURIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket St., Lowell on Sunday, Dec. 11 from 2 until 5 pm. A prayer service will follow at the Funeral Home at 5 pm. Interment will be private and a Memorial Mass will be celebrated at a later date.
