DRACUT -- Blanche C. (Chartrand) Simard, 80, a Dracut resident who was a retired employee at Western Electric, died Sunday, July 31, at her home after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late Raymond H. Simard with whom she had celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.She was born in Lowell on Feb. 25, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Emma (Corcoran) Chartrand. She was educated in Lowell schools.Before retiring, Mrs. Simard was employed as a coil winder for Western Electric for 25 years. During the World War II, she sold parachutes.She was a communicant of Ste Therese Church in Dracut.Mrs. Simard was a former member of the Fleur de Lis Club, where both she and her husband enjoyed dancing.She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Stephen Barrett of Dracut; two sisters, Jeannette Brown of Lowell, and Priscilla Weinstein of Port St Lucie, Fla. She leaves two sisters-in-law, Blanche Denis of Lawrence, and Anita Karafelis and her husband, Alex of Lowell; as well as several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
