<!-- DisplayFullObituaryText -->Billy Dean Hamilton COLUMBIA - Billy Dean Hamilton, 82, of Columbia entered into rest Friday, February 6, 2015 at Providence Hospital, Forest Drive. Born February 25, 1932 in Leroy, IL he was the son of the late William Dennis and Helen (Vollborn) Hamilton. A retired US Army veteran, Mr. Hamilton had served for more than 23 years. During his time with the military, he served as a Mess Sgt., at various bases throughout the world. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hamilton was preceded in death by two sisters. He is survived by his wife of more than 54 years, Marlene Ann (Monnette) Hamilton; sisters, Betty Benson, Barbara Goetz and Joyce Morgan; son, Steven M. Hamilton (Elizabeth Ann); grandson, Shane T. Hamilton; step granddaughter, Ashley Smith; six great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 6:00 P.M., on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The interment will be held at 2:00 P.M., onWednesday, February 11, 2015 at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, SC 29229.
