Billie Geneva Moore, age 87, of Fort Walton Beach, passed away on Friday, Oct. 26, 2007.She was born in Wilburton, Okla., on Aug. 14, 1920, and raised in Dallas.In Texas, she met and fell in love with a handsome young pilot named Lonnie Moore. They married in 1946 and had four children; Bob, Ray, Tina and Steve. Being a military family, they traveled and lived in many beautiful locations, one of which was Tokyo, Japan, where Billie developed her lifelong love of the Orient.During those years, Major Moore had a very distinguished military career serving our country during World War II and the Ko-rean War. He flew in many dangerous missions and became a double ace in the Korean Conflict.After the war, Lonnie and Billie moved their family to Fort Walton Beach. In January of 1956, as a test pilot at Eglin AFB, Lonnie was killed in an unfortunate plane crash. With four children, Billie persevered and, in the late 1960's, she began her career as a local businesswoman. She owned and operated the Kon Tiki Shop in the Fort Walton Square and Adam's Rib Boutique in downtown Fort Walton Beach, the Santa Rosa Mall and in Destin.Many will remember Billie as the "Feisty Little Red Head" with the great fashion sense and fun loving personality.Billie retired in 2002 and lived her last four years at Wellington Assisted Living Facility. She made many dear friends including Marie Cunningham and Sue Grubbs.Billie was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, husband and son, Lonnie Ray Moore, Jr.Billie is survived by her son, Bob Moore, daughter-in-law Mary and granddaughters, Lori and Debbie of Cocoa; son, Steve Moore of Orlando; daughter, Tina Quigley, son-in-law Tim and granddaughters, Billie, Jana and Ava of Destin; granddaughter, Loni Moore of Texas, as well as six great-grandchildren.Visitation will be held in Emerald Coast Funeral Home, 113 Racetrack Road, NE, Fort Walton Beach, on Tuesday, Oct. 30, from 5 to 7 p.m. A Graveside Service will be on Wednesday, Oct. 31, at 11 a.m., in Beal Memorial Cemetery.You may share condolences at www.emeraldcoastfuneralhome.com
