Bibiane M. Gareau Desroches May 14, 2010 Bibiane M. Gareau Desroches, 95, of Syracuse, peacefully passed away on Friday, May 14, at home. She was born in Richmond, Quebec, Canada, on August 18, 1914, and had lived in Syracuse since 1953. A graduate of Syracuse University, 1967, she was a school teacher for the Westhill School District, teaching French until her retirement in 1979. Bibiane was a communicant of the Church of the Most Holy Rosary and participated in the Adoration Society, choir and Senior Club. She was a member of many organizations, including the Moose Club in Solvay, the Entertainers of Onondaga, the NYS Retired Teachers Assoc., the SU Alumni Club and the Corinthian Club Wagon Wheel. She was the widow of Ernest J. Desroches, 1983. She was predeceased by her parents, Claudia and Albert Gareau; 14 siblings; two sons, Roger and Robert; and two grandchildren, Colleen Fogarty and Michael Desroches. She is survived by her two daughters, Sr. Anne-Marie Desroches (Medical Mission Sisters) of Roxbury, MA, and Elizabeth Fogarty (Michael) of Syracuse; grandchildren, Robert and David Desroches, Shannon (Christopher) Patterson, Sean (Kimberly) Fogarty, Patrick Fogarty; two great-granddaughters, Kathleen and Erin Patterson; one sister, Josephine Babineau of CA; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, May 17, in the Church of the Most Holy Rosary. Entombment in St. Mary's Mausoleum to follow. Friends may call 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 16, at Whelan Bros. & Hulchanski Funeral Home, 3700 West Genesee St. Contributions may be made to Hospice of CNY or Most Holy Rosary Church.
